Frost String Quartet

It all started in the fall of 2023. With a shared love for music, Sophia, Clive, Andrew and Joel formed a string quartet and rehearsed under the guidance of our strings teacher, Mrs. Anne-Marie Patterson. We named ourselves the Frost String Quartet after our middle school. Wishing to spread the joy of music to those in need, Sophia arranged for the quartet to perform at nursing homes and hospitals.

Our first concert took place in Annandale, Virginia at Brightview Memory Care. The residents' faces lit up as music filled the room - smiles were everywhere and the atmosphere was full of joy. It was inspiring and moving for each member of the quartet. We returned twice that school year to perform at Brightview.

We reunited during the summer of 2025, giving concerts to old friends at Brightview and bringing music to new places like Chesterbrook Residences, Fairfax Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, and INOVA Schar Cancer Center. Each visit deepened our understanding of the power music holds to heal and uplift, especially in spaces where joy can be fleeting. These experiences not only strengthened our bond as musicians but also shaped our outlook on how we can serve others.

What began as a simple idea grew into something truly meaningful, reminding us that even small acts - like playing a piece of music - can leave a lasting impact.
